Staying with Foster Mom

This is what happens when Sunshine goes to stay at her Foster Mom's house for a week! She destroys a pop corm bag, plays with a stuffy, and falls asleep exhausted! What more could a vacationing puppy ask for?

Summer goals

Time to start making my goals for the summer.

1. Relax more! For the past 2 years straight we've been running around at 180MPH doing this and that, traveling here and there... I need to learn how to just be still again!

2. Drink more! This ties into #1! LOL If I drink I can't drive myself for all these different projects

3. Read 50 books by the end of the summer. I've just started reading again with this ereader stuff. I used to devour 50 books in a couple months...

4. Save money! Not dip into my emergency fund once. I was bad about that last year due to all the projects.

5. Brush all the critters at least once a week. Even if it means pinning down yowling cats.

6. Keep blogging consistently even though we will be home less.

I think I should stop there since I need to keep it uncomplicated!

Scary noises!

Sunshine here!

Last year I had the most horrifying experience while shopping downtown at Gettysburg. We had just gotten some nummy ice cream and were walking along, pretty as could be.... Then these loud monsters came running by us in the street! There were at least 30 of them. So loud they made my ears hurt. I dropped to my belly, started shivering a lot, and let my eyes dart around looking for a safe place to run.  Mommy saw how scared I was and she put both her legs on either side of me, bent down and hugged me tight. I like when she does that. It helps me feel safe.

Loud motorcycles have always scared me but that many all at once made me loose my brain cells as mommy would call it. The scary strangers on the sidewalk were even nice. Everyone froze and wouldn't walk by me so they wouldn't scare me more. Ever since then it's been very hard to be brave with those loud things...

Our new house has lots of buses and motorcycles that zoom by out back and scare me. I always run to the back door then remember that Mommy is my safe place and I run right to her second.  Mommy says that I will eventually not be so scared at that noise but I'm not believing her.

This past weekend we were all out in the yard and Mommy was brushing us. I HATE the furminator but am so well behaved now that no one has to hog tie me. I can stand there like a lady. (Stop laughing everyone!) DBF was messing with some long thing a few feet away from us. I've never seen it before but he always has some fun noisy toys that he won't share with me! Rainy says it's called a weed whacker, but I have no idea what that is...

So here I am being tortured! My fur being ripped out by these ebil metal teeth! Then there was a motorcycle 2 feet from me! Holy pooping gerbils! I jumped and shied to the side, crouched down, then stopped to think.

DBF was holding this growling motorcycle thing... He saw me jump and just stood there with it. The big meanie that he is didn't turn it off! He just walked away with it so I could relax and kept making it growl over and over... It was so scary, but then he always has fun stuff for me like fishing poles. I'm not usually scared of anything he has. Rainy wasn't scared and neither was Mom, so I decided to stand back up and just watch him.

Mom finished brushing me and started on Rainy. Then that growling monster started eating my grass! My yummy spring grass! How rude! I kept watching and eventually Mom had to call us over to the other side of the yard so the monster could eat the grass where we had been brushing. I was brave and bounced right up to her!

No grass eating motorcycle growling monster is going to scare me in *my* yard! I actually think I might like this weed whacker thing, it makes it even easier to eat the yummy spring grass! *slurp* I wonder if all motorcycle sounding things leave yummy things behind them?

New greyhound themed comment

Guy at Wawa was looking at my shirt and said "why would you want to adopt a bus? " *blink* LOL

Do these make sense?

Someone told me my picture post on the blog yesterday made no sense so I figured I would make sure my T shirt made sense before I get them printed! Sometimes my brain cells are off in their own world. *I* always understand myself. :)

Make sure you taste life

Yard Projects

Sunshine has decided that any joint efforts in the yard are the best times! BF was building us a firelog holder while BFK and I were moving the logs down the hill to stack in the holder. Rainy was less impressed and just wanted ear rubs.

For a shy dog who's sound phobic she sure comes running anytime BF fires up a power tool!

She twitched and darted around for hours!

Not sure if it's the fun of getting new stuff in the yard to sniff or the fact that the whole family is working together on something... Sunshine sure is one weird happy pup!

Leaving for work this morning

and this is what I saw!

Sunshine Says 3/28/2012

Sunshine here! I have lots of questions to answer... I'm going to do them in the order that I got them. One every Wednesday. The first one is from  my friend Toby who has retired to the state of NJ within the past year. Clearly he needs help figuring out this retirement thing.

Dear Sunshine,

Toby wants to know why you like flip flops?   Is this something he should look into??

Toby,

Only some flip flops are yummy! My Mommy's aren't too tasty while her BF's are deeeelicious! The key to good flip flop munching is to be like a ninja. If you can sneak them out from under someone while they are watching TV you have reached ninja status. Oh the rubbery bottoms make the best feeling against your toofers. That coupled with the smelly fabric tops make them blissful. The best way to use them is to chew on the top part first and remove that annoying thong piece.  Once you have that piece out of the way you can really chew with the whole side f your mouth! The best place to chew is right in the middle of the big bed. That way the humans can admire your work as you crash from exhaustion on the squishy mattress.

Good Luck my friend! Make sure you let me know if you can ever reach ninja status. It take LOTS of work to get there. Don't worry if the humans yell, they are just amazed at your awesomeness!

New Wednesday Idea

I'm stealing an idea that Sunshine's Foster Mommy gave! Every Wednesday will have an "Ask Sunshine Column" sort of like a Dear Abby column. Now we only need people to send in questions for Miss Sunshine to answer.

Any question will work no matter how silly or practical. You can reply on FB or Twitter, email me, or use the submission form to the right here.

Everyone who submits a question between now and 4/30/2012 will be entered to win a prize...... a blue tag collar. Same collar that the girls wear, only a different color.

Num Num

This is the first time they's chosen to chew this close to each other outside. Normally they go to opposite sides of the yard and are only eating together inside.

44 lbs of ground venison..

and 15 lbs of flour = Dog treats for at least 3 months (hopefully)

The more recalls that happen the less likely I am to be lazy and buy dog treats. I never do things halfway so I took 2 days to factory crank out dog treats. The worst part about making your own dog treats is that it takes forever to only make 24 or so treats on one cookie sheet. I need more bang for my time. So I got  creative and I think it paid off.

First I slightly thawed out some ground venison in the microwave

Then cubed the half frozen meat and cooked it in a skillet

Threw about 5-6lbs of cooked meat into a bowl and added 3 cups of flour

Mixed until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. since I was cooking with venison I just let the grease help bond the flour to the meat. If I was using ground beef I would probably drain some of the grease off before mixing.

Since I'm too lazy to scrub dishes I lined a cookie sheet with 2 pieces of tin foil so every inch was lined.

Dump the contents of the bowl and mush it down with your hands

Afterwards it should look like this. Then I got smart and sprinkled glucosamine powder and Kelp powder to the top. Hey that saves me 2 steps in my nightly feeding routine!

I cooked on 450 degrees for about 30 minutes.

The top was nice and crusty and the insides were still a little gooey. Almost like meatloaf.

After it cools a pizza cutter worked best. It was even easier to slide the tin foil off the cookie sheet and cut it while flat on the counter. I then put the cooled squares in a freezer bag and they are in the freezer for freshness. The cookies we are currently using are being kept in the fridge. I say this was a success and guaranteed not to kill my pups!

Design a Silly Logo and Win $50!

I came up with the idea to run a really BIG contest! I need a logo for this website. Since there are so many other creative people out there I'm thinking a contest might be fun.

1. Winner will get a $50 Amazon gift card or a $50 donation to any rescue group of your choice (except PETA, Grey2K, HSUS, and ASPCA. I'm staying far away from all that political craziness!) Your choice of prize will not be made public so no one has to feel bad for choosing the Amazon gift card.

2. Anyone can enter, even if you're not located in the USA.

3. Every entry will be asked to sign over the rights to the logo via contract. I will email you the contract and you can print, sign, scan, and email the contract back.

4. You can submit as many different designs as you can make

5. If you want to send over a sample and ask for my opinion, I don't mind thinking of changes that could be made before the close of the contest. ;) It might increase your chances of winning.

6. I would like the logo to somehow include one picture/drawing/likeliness of Rainy and one picture/drawing/likeliness of Sunshine. If you get motivated you can also toss in some kitty pics.

7. Don't care whether it's colored or black and white, feel free to be 100% creative!

8. Silly chaotic logos that are easy to understand and make you smile are the goal.

9. "Chuckle At Chaos" should be somewhere in the logo, even if only listed a below it.

10. There must be at least 15 entries for me to be guaranteed to pick a winner. Those entries could just be from a few people, but I cannot pick a winner unless I have some options. I also retain the right to throw out this rule if we have only 5 entries and I absolutely fall in love with one and decide that is the one I wish to use.

11. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at JAJameson2010@gmail.com

Entries must be emailed to me by 4/15/2012

Have a fire and open the closet door. *sigh* It was a bad day for Miss Rainy

Two birds

The saw horses outside are the only thing that saved two stupid fighting birds this morning. At this rate the girls might get some kills this spring.

More num nums!

So a weird quirk of Sunshine. No matter where she is or how comfortable she is eating. Her tail is always tucked!

Help!

You can see all my ribbies! I'm abused and need more food! Just make sure it's venison ;)  I like that the bestest

Brave exhausted Sunshine

I just saw a MONSTER!

Sunshine here! Mom said we need to start building up muscles for our trip to Gettysburg. We got extra food tonight and went for an extra long walk! A whole 45 minutes with not a lot of sniffing... Rainy and I both like the extra food part! Yum!

It was just dark and we passed kids on bikes, other people out for walks by themselves (they should get puppies so they have company) and we passed lots of cars. We even saw a homeless kitty! We've been walking by this place before so it wasn't too new to us. Some kid help yelling and pointing at me. He was my size and scared me, we didn't even get near him!

We were almost at the end of the walk and then this loud monster came by! It shook the ground! It was on the other side of the fence but only about 10 feet away. We all froze and Rainy looked at it with her ears perked up. I could tell mommy was surprised cause she forgot to breath... I did not try to run. I did not back up out of my collar. I did not buck up and twist around. I did not fear poop. I did not glue my tail to my belly. (it was a little tucked though...) I did not drop to the ground in a crap crawl. I did not even shake once!!!!!

I turned so my butt was leaning against mommy and stood there looking in front of us and in back of us while this monster went by. It was really really long...

Finally mommy got bored waiting for it to pass and in a very loud (so we could hear her) voice told us to keep on marching. We kept walking while this loud monster shook the ground next to us and I was BRAVE! I never once shook or tried to hide.

When we got back home mommy hugged me and started crying while giving me cookies. Not sure why she was crying... The monster didn't hurt us.  I think I'll be much braver this year in Gettysburg. Maybe some day those loud motorcycles won't scare me either...

This is what I woke up to

Apparently Sunshine was not fond of mornings today

She refused to get up until I ripped the covers off and forced her to stand up.

Petedge.com

I've been ordering from them for years! They have awesome prices on bulk items, which helps economically feed Sunshine's chewing habit. Those chipmunk cheeks of her need at least an hour work out every day to keep her sane. I wonder if she will still have teeth by the time she's 10 yrs old? Petedge's shipping has always been pretty expensive, but their good prices have always made it easy to overlook that

I've never had an issue with Petedge! Until now... I placed an order Sunday around noon. They charged my card immediately for payment. I decided about an hour later that I did not need one of the items, so I sent an email off to their customer service department requesting that is be removed if possible. I received no answer even though they were open until 6pm.

I called first thing this morning at 7:30am as soon as they opened and was advised that they haven't shipped out my order yet, but they would be unable to change anything on my order since they already authorized my card. Only they authorized my card immediately, so is it impossible to change any order EVER? No, no, no I was assured that they can usually edit orders but since mine has been charged already that they could not edit anything. But again they charged my card immediately.  So I was on the phone with a moron first thing this morning.

Honestly the item I needed taken off was only $15 so it's not a huge deal to me. I realize I was the moron who didn't think all the way through before placing my order and I should have. What is preventing them from getting my repeat business is that I hate being lied too and being talked in circles. It's just not worth the few dollars savings! I will find another wholesale website that wants my business.

Frizzle has decided

The fish tank belongs to her!

Murdoc could care less about the fish tank!
