Sunshine here!
Last year I had the most horrifying experience while shopping downtown at Gettysburg. We had just gotten some nummy ice cream and were walking along, pretty as could be.... Then these loud monsters came running by us in the street! There were at least 30 of them. So loud they made my ears hurt. I dropped to my belly, started shivering a lot, and let my eyes dart around looking for a safe place to run. Mommy saw how scared I was and she put both her legs on either side of me, bent down and hugged me tight. I like when she does that. It helps me feel safe.
Loud motorcycles have always scared me but that many all at once made me loose my brain cells as mommy would call it. The scary strangers on the sidewalk were even nice. Everyone froze and wouldn't walk by me so they wouldn't scare me more. Ever since then it's been very hard to be brave with those loud things...
Our new house has lots of buses and motorcycles that zoom by out back and scare me. I always run to the back door then remember that Mommy is my safe place and I run right to her second. Mommy says that I will eventually not be so scared at that noise but I'm not believing her.
This past weekend we were all out in the yard and Mommy was brushing us. I HATE the furminator but am so well behaved now that no one has to hog tie me. I can stand there like a lady. (Stop laughing everyone!) DBF was messing with some long thing a few feet away from us. I've never seen it before but he always has some fun noisy toys that he won't share with me! Rainy says it's called a weed whacker, but I have no idea what that is...
So here I am being tortured! My fur being ripped out by these ebil metal teeth! Then there was a motorcycle 2 feet from me! Holy pooping gerbils! I jumped and shied to the side, crouched down, then stopped to think.
DBF was holding this growling motorcycle thing... He saw me jump and just stood there with it. The big meanie that he is didn't turn it off! He just walked away with it so I could relax and kept making it growl over and over... It was so scary, but then he always has fun stuff for me like fishing poles. I'm not usually scared of anything he has. Rainy wasn't scared and neither was Mom, so I decided to stand back up and just watch him.
Mom finished brushing me and started on Rainy. Then that growling monster started eating my grass! My yummy spring grass! How rude! I kept watching and eventually Mom had to call us over to the other side of the yard so the monster could eat the grass where we had been brushing. I was brave and bounced right up to her!
No grass eating motorcycle growling monster is going to scare me in *my* yard! I actually think I might like this weed whacker thing, it makes it even easier to eat the yummy spring grass! *slurp* I wonder if all motorcycle sounding things leave yummy things behind them?
