We went for a 30 minute walk at Rockwood Park tonight. We haven't been there since we moved. Rainy and Sunshine were so excited to see their greyhound friend, Tina.

Happy to wear collars?
The girls get happy to have their collars on. For the second time in a week I woke up this morning to a naked Sunshine. Not sure what she's doing at night but her collar was in a mess of blankets on her couch. So I found it and she bounced right on over, stuck her nose in and pranced away with her pretty pink collar.
Rainy does the same thing. I usually take her collar off while bathing and put it back on after she is dry. Whenever I put her collar back on later that day she gets all wiggly and excited.
When we first moved into this house Sunshine was running in the yard and her tag collar went flying off! She bounced up to the door to come inside and I asked said "Hey! Are you missing something?" She looked at me for a second then bounced/jumped over to where her collar was laying and waited for me to come put it on!
I just finished reading a book written from the dog's point of view, "One Good Dog" was the title. Interesting book about a higher up CEO who had a break with sanity and lost everything. The dog in the story scoffs at pets with collars, but eventually comes to liking his collar and wearing it proudly.
Almost makes me wonder how much truth there is in that. Are dogs proud to wear collars identifying them as being a loved pet? Anyone else have a dog who feels naked without a collar and is so excited to have it put back on so they feel 'complete' again? I think it's so cute!

A friend sent me some dough and I had fun squishing it, feeding it, and cooking it. Kid's green color changing instant pudding was on sale so the bread turned out green...

American Furniture Clearance Center ROCKS!
I spent $1,029.66 yesterday. Ek! Not really sure how this happened but we will be living off the freezer and pantry contents because I will have zero grocery money for a while!

All for $799.99, which is a deal upon itself! They didn't have the coffee table in stock so we had to take the display model, which has a tiny scratch in it. They knocked off $50 of the price for that and let us pick out our choice of brand new lamps! The ones I picked were $78 a piece.
While we were waiting for the guy to write our order up BF saw this hutch. He thought it would work perfectly in the kitchen. Price listed was $299, which is a good deal to begin with. I asked the manager what he could do it we rolled this into our order. Said he would knock off $100! Sold!
So for $950 we now own. Hutch & bench for the kitchen, brand new couch/loveseat/endtables/lamps, and a floor model coffee table. Lets be serious, I'll probably end up scratching it myself anyway! Everything gets delivered Saturday at 10am for $85. Couldn't have been an easier experience. This is my furniture place from now on! I'm not buying anywhere else. Negotiating was very easy and the prices as cheap as they were; were all negotiable. Manager was very friendly as well as the cashier ringing us up. I can't say enough good things about this place. Zero pressure sale environment. We had actually looked at the furniture, left, checked out a few more places, and ended up back there. Hate when sales people jump on you as soon as you walk in the door...
Since I was already hemmoriging money when we got home I hopped online and ordered a humidifier from Walmart and a large inside log holder to put in the dinning room.

Being sick...
Blows! Everything hurts and all I have to do is to sit here any think about the decorating I want to do. But of course I have no money to buy stuff right now. Which is probably a good thing in the long run!
I need to buy a larger log holder to put in the dining room. Thinking of getting something like this

On the other hand we have a working couch/love seat combo that is old but it is functional. So I'm trying to be mature and wait...
Plus I want to add some plants here too! I'm going to try hard not to kill them. Hoping they will help with the static electricity and dry air around here. Here is my idiot proof hardy pet safe list

Rainy coping with the fireplace
I tried to get her to lay on some double beds in the adjoining room to the lit fireplace. It only lasted a few minutes before she ran upstairs!
Last night I put the dog bed in the kitchen and she laid there for about 20 minutes before running upstairs. I started her on 6mg of melatonin twice a day to hopefully help chill her anxiety out a bit. I'm toying with the idea of baby gating the stairs so she has to stay down with us and the fire... Not sure if that will backfire and make her worse!

Decorating the dining room
I've been slowly re doing the dining room. I already reupholstered the chairs in bright fun colors and bought new bright fun colored dishes. Plus I painted the book shelf black
And BF covered the top of the table for me. I can't even cut a straight line with scissors, so it's better if he does this!
I think it looks pretty darn good! It's just cheap self sticky flooring tiles from Lowes.

Busy day!
Not only did we have snow today but the girls had to work hard at a Petco Meet and Greet to help other greyhounds get good homes.

If anyone asks...
Sunshine's puppy eyes did not make me go back upstairs at 3am, put on clothes, come back down, and play in the snow with her for 20 minutes.
Really, I'm not that crazy.... And we have well over the 1 inch estimation! There are at least 4 inches out there.
I let them go out to potty and when they came back in she just kept looking at me and wagging her tail with a smile.. She KNOWS I'm a sucker for snow!
This probably doesn't help enforce my sleep at night and don't bark rule.
